Better than Expected!

We saw this in IMAX 3-D and really enjoyed it! Loved the new characters, especially the chemistry between Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. Also appropriate for most kids ages 10-11 and up. Not quite as racy and violent as the last two. See Commonsensemedia.org for more parent's thoughts.

Strange Formatting but OK movie

The movie was pretty good - pretty entertaining for those of us that know and love the characters. I agree that the wardrobe was quite strange at times and I didn't like most of what Carrie wore. The others' outfits were much better.
The weirdest thing about this movie, which I saw at Stonebriar AMC 14, was that we could see the boom microphone above the actors and actresses heads during at least 1/2 of the movie. At times you could see the whole rig. It was very distracting and made the movie feel cheaply made. I have to wonder if this theater had the wrong format or something. That was the biggest disappointment.
Other than that, it was a fun night out with the girls. There were actually a few thought-provoking ideas about marriage that I enjoyed and made me want to share with my husband, so I didn't feel it was totally void of substance.
Worth seeing.
