why scare your kid?

I went to see shrek with my 6 year old daughter and her friend. We had liked the fun and sweetness of shrek 1. Instead of being enchanted the kids were scared to death. My daughter cried for almost the whole time and only stayed inside because of her friend. The movie awakens a lot of deep subconscious fears in kids. If you have a sensitive child do not go to this movie!!!
I feel really sorry about that because the movie was made so well and yes, I would recommend it to an adult friend. But why would you want to scare your kid??
