Wonderful job by the Met -- again! -- but marred by some glitches at Warwick Showcase. They only got the curtain to open two minutes before the performance, the theater was much too cold for almost half the performance (later improved), and they couldn't manage to dim the lights after the second intermission until several minutes into the final acts. Previous experiences at this venue have been just fine, so I hope this was just an anomaly.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not as good as being actually in the audience at the Met, but the next best thing! Excellent performances all around, and it was fascinating to see the facial expressions on the soloists -- something you miss if the only tickets you can normally afford are in the Balcony section. The backstage glimpses were fun, and I'm looking forward to going to some of the actual live HD broadcasts in the fall. A good way for newbies to discover opera without spending a fortune.
