Waste of Time

While it was not the worst movie ever ("Oh Brother Where Art Though?"), it ranks in the bottom 10. Kept waiting for a plot or tying together of one scene to another. Almost seemed to make fun of those who are lower mentality, which is rude and insensitive. Needless sex scenes, characters that came and went adding nothing to the movie and an ending that was as unfulfilling as the rest of the movie make this one a total stinker in my book.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Would have given 5 stars but for the ending. Well developed story and excellently acted. Kept my attention throughout. Thought it could have ended about 5-10 minutes sooner and been more satisfying.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Riveting from beginning to end. Since this is a true story, it is also an important one. Acting is superb and movie is well cast.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

While cute at times, no real substance. Premise was good and movie just did not ever take off with it. While sexual content is fine if it fits, this movie seemed to throw it in (language and scenes) just for the sake of throwing it in. Does Drew Barrymore look older and heavier? I guess she is older and heavier. But so am I. This one may be better left to renting the video (when the kids are asleep).
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Mad I wasted my time and money

If were not for the 3+ star critics ratings, I never would have considered seeing this movie. I cannot figure out what in the world the critics saw or liked as this movie had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. There were 2 or 3 funny lines and about 100 lines that made no sense. The story line, if you can call it that, was disjointed. I wondered if it was trying to be Airplane in its humor, and fell short. And clearly I was not the only one, as the packed theatre was mostly silent throughout the movie. I was glad I was not the only one who didn't find much to be funny. As we left the theatre, the comments I heard from other couples was a resounding "that was terrible". I would not even put this in the category of wait until it comes out on video. It is not worth your time.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great to see Dustin Hoffman again. He was cast perfectly and his performance made the movie. Emma Thompson was also quite good. Too bad this movie could not have left out a brief scene with one foul word, otherwise it could be suitable for the whole family.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Should be required viewing

Schindler's List, It's a Beautiful Life and now Boy in the Striped Pajamas rank as movies that should be required watching for all. This was perfectly done, bringing to life just a small bit of the atrocity that occured only 65 years ago. Acting and emotion is superb. Although the theatre was not crowded, you could hear the sobs and feel the emotion when the movie ended.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
