I'm actually very surprised by what the critics are saying about Sex and the City 2. I totally disagree, especially with some thoughts that it was anti-Muslim. From my perspective, they tried to portray how the Western world views such strict Middle-Eastern customs. Some of us just go about our every day lives without much of an opinion on the subject (like Charlotte); some of us will speak and challenge these customs with every fiber of our being (like Samantha); and then some of us are diplomatic and try to find a happy medium by appreciating and respecting the customs that are foreign to us (like Miranda). There was never any kind of anti-Muslim sentiment in the movie! They simply showed the reality of what happens in these places and how riddled they are with good and evil; colorful and dark; wealth and poverty; foward-thinking and ultra-conservatism. And all of these things are not only found in the Middle East, but can be seen in different ways right here at home in the USA. I think the people who didn't catch that are the very ones who would rather silence the voices of beautiful, fashionable and powerful women. This movie took some very serious issues that our socieities are struggling to get a handle on and presented them in a fun and entertaining light. Just what I would expect from these fabulous ladies!
