Too scary for a 4 year old

I enjoyed this movie very much, however my 4 year old son did not. There were too many scary night-time scenes with witches and that nasty little Rumplestilskin (sp?) for his comfort. We made it through the whole thing, but he asked to go home a couple times, then decided he could make it through to the end only if he sat on my lap.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
