Saw movie with my husband. I "overlooked" the reality of an 11-year-old actress portraying a killing machine and thoroughly enjoyed the story, acting, cinematography, soundtrack, etc. My husband couldn't get past age of the actress/character and her participation in the film. That aside, the violence was a bit overwhelming. I hid my eyes at first, but found myself chuckling and cheering towards the end. Great characters, great story, great editing, looking forward to the sequel.
Delightful movie. Excellent animation, especially the early scenes. I tend to judge an animated film on the care the director takes with the cinematography. Have they given thought to how each scene will look. Just like with a live action film, nothing beats a really breathtaking image. This director got this right - more so early on in the film. Images of the "trashed" landscape from above, from a distance, the atmospheric lighting - all top notch. I also loved the quietness (minimal talking!) of the movie. And best of all--an animated film that did not feature animals or children. Enjoyed the mix of animation and live action. My positive reaction to the film may have something to do with the fact that "Hello Dolly" is one of my favorite movie musicals and "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" is one of my favorite scenes from that movie, but I digress. Way to go Pixar!
