Lackluster and Pointless

Of course you have to see the new Harry Potter movie...it's the new Harry Potter movie. Apart from that, though, the movie in itself was disappointing. It really made you feel like you were in the theater for 2.5hrs. After the movie was over, I didn't quite know what I sat through.
I've heard that some believe this movie can stand on its own, if you've never seen the other HP films. I disagree wholeheartedly. The film incorporates many aspects and minor characters from previous films. If I had never seen a HP movie, I would have been completely lost.
The point of this movie was to build up the final movie. NOTHING WAS REALLY ACCOMPLISHED IN THIS MOVIE except to whet your appetite for the finale in July. The producer could have easily taken the high points from this film and incorporated them into the final film and still come out under 3hrs. Of course, that wouldn't make as much money as producing 2 HP movies, with the latter being the finale. I get it.
Bottom line: don't expect anything super-special, and don't think the plot will work itself out - it doesn't. If you're going to see the final film, you may need to see this one, so you're not completely lost come July, but as a whole, I think this was the weakest HP film to date. You'll be entertained, but left wanting closure and resolution...which was the point. BTW - many of the scenes in the trailer...not in the part 1 movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Don't Watch If You Have A High Opinion Of Clooney

Be advised: this movie makes me angry, and as such, I needed to write 2 reviews: a PG version and a PG-13 version, the latter of which describes more thoroughly how completely I hated this movie. The different reviews are labeled...
The colorless review:
To describe this movie in two words: Horrible and Awkward. For most of the movie, there was no soundtrack, which left the viewer with a sense of uneasiness. Even the sex scenes, which really added nothing to the already diminutive plot, felt awkward. It was as if Clooney's character threw a 1hr 45min paranoid pity party for being a washed-up spy, who has what it takes in his head, but not in his heart. I wanted to applaud when the movie was over...not because it was a worthwhile movie...but because of the fact that the movie was finally over.
The colorful review:
After the movie was over, I had an insatiable urge to grab a "feminine massager" wrapped in barbed wire, shove it up Clooney's anus, and hit "frappe" for enticing me to see that dookie-flick.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Lives Up To The Hype

Typically, sequels have a stigma for being less-than-entertaining knockoffs of the original film. This is not the case with Iron Man 2. Marvel took the Iron Man character and developed the "multi-factedness" of Tony Stark. Stark faced real human dilemmas ranging from daddy issues, to love vs lust, to even his own mortality. Marvel's casting ability also continues to be spot-on, and you hardly noticed that Rhodey was played by a different character this go-around. As to be expected, there were plenty of inferences to upcoming Marvel films...that's films, plural...stay for the credits. The plot was entertaining (especially considering I was in the midnight showing). There were very few lulls in the plot. Of course, when you have George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic doing the graphics and Skywalker Sound doing the audio, you know you're in for a treat - and you'd be correct. Graphically, the envelope was pushed (as expected). War Machine and S.H.I.E.L.D played key roles in the film, and marvel did a very good job of intertwining the characters together. This is a movie you need to see in the theaters; the big screen does the movie justice. Go see the movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
