Greatly written, produced and executed film. Benjamin Bratt's performance is the best I've seen him in. There are multiple issues addressed that cross all cultures. It was done with great detail and sensitivity, and with characters that challenge themselves and each other.
I went with 4 friends the first time, and 8 other friends the second time. It is unfortunate that it is not getting picked up by all theaters like mainstream movies do. Hollywood seems to think that if Latinos play leading roles and/or roles of substance, somehow non-Latinos will not see these movies. When in reality, the reason many more people haven't seen this movie is because it lacks the financial backing to market the film, so many people do not know about it. It's picking up audience from word of mouth. So, until Hollywood gets its act together we'll need to continue to spread the word out on great films like this one.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
