Like most sequels, Iron Man 2 doesn't fail to disappoint. Still, I gave the movie 4 stars so I don't see it as a huge disappointment. All of the characters are convincing in their roles and I like the storyline. However, the writers just did not pull it off this time. Robert Downey's lines weren't quite as snappy, or as witty, as they were in Iron Man 1 and I think his character kind of felt flat. I plan to watch the movie a few more times to get a better feel for it. Maybe I'll change my mind but I don't think so.
I immensely enjoyed Iron Man. So much so, that I purchased the DVD and have watched it several times since the theater release. I again watched it in the theater prior to the midnight release of Iron Man 2. Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow all delivered convincing performances. I'm not so sure that Jeff Bridges did the same. I don't like to typecast actors, however, I don't think that Jeff Bridges was the best actor who could have been cast as the villain. I think that if Faran Tahir had been cast as Obadiah Stane the part would have been far more believable.
