Great New Beginniing

A long time Trek fan, I was very satisfied with the new movie, especially its many nods to past Trek. I had already reconciled myself to the differences in style and the wholesale replacement of canon, so I was freer to just enjoy the movie. Seeing anything on IMAX is best, and this movie is no exception (a few somewhat blurry close-ups not withstanding). I recommend viewing it close but not to close in order to drink it all in. May Trek live long and prosper!

Patience In Viewing Rewarded

If you can ignore the sheer density of information the movie throws at you, and show patience in working through the various leaps around time and place in the narrative, you will be rewarded with a deeply insightful and moving exploration of the issues raised by the original comic. If you can watch and enjoy Lost, then you should really be able to watch and enjoy this, whether or not you've read the graphic novel.
