The original movies are my favourite all time horror movies and so I was on the fence about this being remade. Have this mindset going in I was proven that it is possible to make a decent remake of a classic, unlike some that we have seen over the years. There were things I disliked of course. The movie overall felt too Freddy-less as it could have been. There were lots of micro-flashes, but the overall torture I felt could have been more encompassed. The death scenes were unoriginal. As soon as I saw the same ones being used from the original, for the most part, there was no guessing on how Freddy was going to kill his victims. The characters felt rushed in and out and needed some more longevity them. Bringing in more classmates was a great idea, but they were already killed off before our movie had even started. I did enjoy the look of how burned Freddy was, even down to his shirt with burn holes. The new little twitch his gives the gloves are great. The way the writers brought in all the new research of sleep deprivation, insomnia and the mind after the body is killed keeps living for an additional seven minutes was truly bravo. "When you die the brain stays active for an additional seven minutes. We still have six minutes together. Let's not waste any time." The Freddy background was well sculpted and enjoy seeing more background than having to wait until the fifth installment. Though they did bring it up fully in this remake do to the fact that people already know the history and people are impatient nowadays. I would recommend this movie to others, but don't expect to see anything too original in death scenes.
