I've been a Freddy fan since I was 9... that's over 20 years, and I thought this one was awesome! The very first one was scary but then the series turned more camp fun/comedic. I liked that for what it was, but this was truly dark and more true to what a child torturer/murderer would really be like. I guess you could say that the scary parts were predictable, but that didn't bother me at all. I think the new Freddy looked awesome, I really liked how the back story was more developed than before, and this story was way more cohesive than the original series. In 1984 Wes Craven made a movie that he didn't know would go on to become a franchise. In doing so, there were huge gaps in the story line throughout the whole series. I mean, it wasn't until Freddy's Dead that you learned the whole story behind Fred Krueger, and even then it was cheesy and unrealistic. I 'm more scared by realism than fantasy personally. I thought this movie had a few bad acting moments but none that ruined the movie. I thought it was good enough to see again, and I can't wait for a sequel or two. The ending did happen kinda quickly, but the back story was so well developed and so rich, that I feel I know more at this stage in the story line, than I did after all 7 original movies. This one also had all the killer pieces from the original series. For example, running through a bloody hallway, falling through the bed, the glove coming out of the bathtub, the boiler room scenes, the coming out of the wall scene, the going outside during a dream to then bring Freddy into the house scene, I mean they just included so many of them that it remained true to the original series, but with a fresh twist and a new cast. Definitely go see this new nightmare. Robert England will always be the original Freddy, but Jackie Earle Haley rocked it. With a new look, a new glove, a new voice, and new stories, I'm excited as a true Nightmare on Elm Street fan for the future of this franchise. "Wake up! You're bleeding!" "Why are you screaming? I haven't even cut you yet!" Good stuff...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As somone who attended 8 I felt that this movie was right on. The camera shots were sick, and the audio was awesome. Everything was super crisp and the mix was perfect. You could hear every little nuance in each of the band members playing and that is more important than anything else. The setlist was good, but I guess I would have liked to see a few more PHiSH songs at the end after the Exile songs. Jibboo, DWD, Light, Party Time, Moma, KDF all would have been sick movie closers. Tweeprise was fitting, but again I would have liked a couple more songs between Suzy and Tweeprise. The 3D was good too. The mic stands and their instruments really popped out at you, and the burble or whatever it's called looked cool too in 3D. In this area I was hoping to see more of the beautifully lit up Palm Trees in 3D, but they didn't really show any of that. Also it would have been cool to see some of the setup/drive in of Festival 8, and also more of the FIRE art installations that were abound on the concert grounds. Overall though this movie was great, and seeing it on April 20th made it even more memorable. So definitely go see it if you're a fan of this band. You won't be sorry you did. <><
