Our experience with our grandson

Wow it started out loud and scarey and as I watched my 4 yr old grandson he had his hands to his ear, sorta kinda scared, but not really, he was totally enthalled in the movie and as he began to know the characters, both the Vikings and the Dragons, he was totally enchanted.
During flying scenes he would whoop it up and encourage Dark Fury to fly faster and higher, during the fight scenes he was practically standing and raring to jump in and help.
He left the theatre completely satisfied with the experience.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
