Enjoyable start to finish, this movie lets us know that there's a capable, unique person in each one of us, and if we're willing to break some moulds, we can achieve greatness. While the story was as predictable as they get, you wouldn't want it any other way. Funny, well acted, and fantastically animated, this movie will bring you joy.
First time I saw this high shock-value movie I was on the floor laughing the entire time. The second time, I couldn't stomach it. Borat, unlike what some may think, is not a movie about Kazakhstan, but rather about our own U.S. of A. Borat manages, with his made-up naive self, to become a mirror to our best worst features. While Alan Keys stays perfectly calm explaining Borat about homosexuality, a crowd at a rodeo nearly kills over when hearing Borat's version of the National Anthem. This movie is seriously funny, if you can take fat people naked and some s**t in a bag.
Thank you, thank you! Finally, a movie without access violence that doesn't look down at kid's ability to understand a good plot. History references, action adventure, all in a package that the whole family can enjoy without cringing. This movie started an entire genre, I hope more catch on. See it again and again.
Although you can pretty much guess the story line within 20 minutes of the start, it was very entertaining. About Jason Lee, man, he never got over the awkwardness of acting 'as if' he's talking to someone. He did a horrible job, I think, but also that didn't manage to ruin it. Fun all around - will watch again.
I went to this movie with my kids, ready to suffer through a video-game style 3D trash. I was knocked off of my feet, this movie was great. If you take it for what it was meant to be, this movie will give you back the 2+ hours and then some. Susan Sarandon is amazing, as other actors. Special effects are intentionally non-photo realistic, and are cooked to perfection. What else can I say, I went in expecting a bomb and was blown away by this movie.
While much better than the first movie, this one doesn't sit like an original masterpiece. The special effects are well done and convincing, but many of the themes seem too obviously close to main themes in other large productions. The train station at the start might as well have a "Platform 9 3/4" sign, and also many of the scenes had too much of a LOTR feel to them. Otherwise, if you let yourself get into it, you may be able to squeeze a tear or two, have a crush on Prince Caspian/Queen Susan (whatever does it for you), and enjoy a well made movie.
