Very cute, but a little heavy

I thought it was a very cute movie, and I loved the characters and the individuality of the dragons. Overall, a great kids movie - although I found the story a little heavy for kids. I'm 33 and I was sad at times, so I can only imagine how some of the story affected a child. There were definitely a few scenes that I know scared the beejeezus out of some of the kids in the theater (I heard the crying) and in 3D, that had to be super scary! But the comic side of the film was great and hearing the roaring little voices of laughter was great. My nephew is 6, and he enjoyed it but I would think better of it had he been younger.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
