Icing: The visuals impressive, I am not a fan of cgi with real life actors but this was done well. The 3d effects were not a gimmicky over the top in your face style but instead it added depth of field and you got a feeling for the positioning of each characters. You could tell distances between people and objects. It was good but after 30min I started to get used to it and the novelty sort of wore off. i am happy to report that I did not have any headaches! Old 3d movies were terrible.
The Cake: Stale and bland... The story has been done MANY times before (and normally better) while character development was weak and I felt disconnected with the characters. The story was boring, I did not get drawn into it. For example Dances With Wolves is a movie that drew me in... I felt an emotional attachment with John Dunbar and Kicking Bird. I felt anger, sadness, joy, happiness, and curiosity watching Dances with wolves. For example I looked forward to each meeting John had with the Native indians... I was just as excited as the character. This aspect was missing from Avatar and for that I give it 3 stars. The characters were all forgettable.
Like I said Icing is always great but whats the point when the cake is lacking.
