Good but Nothing Great

Scenes of real beauty and cool special effects and Avatars. Really enjoyable but could have easily been 40 mins shorter. Lack of depth in plot and character as the very cool special effects and blow-em up action sequences go on at length. The bad guys become cartoon-like in their badness.
A few moments don't make sense if you think about them but it is a fun ride. Ultimately there is a deeper metaphor about the treatment of Native Americans upon the arrival of Europeans.
Enjoyable but not a game change for films that people have suggested. No one will be talking about this film two years from now except for the special effects.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Sounds like they came up with the screenplay in about 2 hours. Almost everything good, you saw in the previews.
