I am still amazed how a movie with basically no plot and no suspense can be so gripping. Yet it is. I went with three people who had already seen it just a week before.
As a sidenote, I agree with the other reviewer's comments about movietickets.com It is annoying that you still have to stand in line, use your credit card and pay a fee on top of that. The only advantage - which is why I use it when I am going with a group - is that you can be sure ahead of time that you will have tickets and it will not be sold out.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Worth it for Depp

Pre-purchasing tickets online is the way to go - it made the whole experience much more relaxing. The theatre is great with good viewing from all seats. Strengths of the film: because of Johnny Depp and the visual treats and surprises, the movie is suitable for any and all ages. My 18- and 25- year old sons and husband went with me only to be nice to me, but then they enjoyed it. Depp and the Red Queen are the absolute stars and you enjoy every moment of their performances, but really the entire cast was genius. I think it would have been better if the director had not slipped into the contemporary template so much - this story obtains its power from the fact that things which at first glance appear whimsical and charming, actually turn out to be menacing. He loses that by making everything dark and bleak and menacing in the first place. See if you agree with me!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
