I haven't read any of the Percy Jackson's books so I did not have that as a reference before viewing this film. The movie started out good, dragged in the middle and fell off totally during the end. The editting was choppy and parts of the movie made no sense. I thought there would have been more action but was disappointed. Good movie for the middle school and below set, boring for everyone else.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
