Visually stunning yet...

I grew up with the Alice in Wonderland story and I'll admit in many ways this film works. Amazing visual effects make for great eye candy but in the end I felt a bit worn out from this films rather long, plodding pace. Depps performance as the Mad Hatter is respectable if less than original (think Edward Scissors Hands and Jack Sparrow somehow have a baby) and Helena Bonham Carter is disturbing sporting the largest cranium ever filmed. My kids enjoyed it all...no Avatar but worth the price of admission. Make sure you see the 3D version.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
