The plot was much more cohesive than the original movie to which it is a sequel. It felt a little "Narnia goes 3D."
The 3D graphics were not to the level of Avatar and they used the "dive at the camera" far too much for dramatic effect - not a good idea for a non-horror flick. Unlike Avatar you can see the 3D distance layers like a stage set which reduced the believability of the graphics.
Mia Wasikowska could be easily mistaken for Gwyneth Paltrow in both looks and acting - not sure how I feel about that. Still, she did a good job putting some life in the staid Alice. And of course nobody plays an insane misunderstood loon better than Depp.
