First, Technicalities-
The 3D was just "OK" but the 2D version has virtually all the advantages of the 3D. Save your 3D glasses for CGI productions like "UP" and "Monsters vs Aliens." It just wasn't that memorable in this movie.
Now, the Movie itself-
I went with my 6 year old son, who is only vaguely familiar with the Lewis Carroll story. I have actually read the original story. We both found it to be enjoyable. Somehow the screen writers wrote a tangible plot into the tale, and that made a huge difference!
I thought Johnny Depp did a good job NOT being Capt Jack Saprrow- Hat's off to him!
Other actors, production details were pretty good. I give it 3/5 because I this truly is only above average, all things considered.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
