Burton & Depp are usually a must see combination of unique visual delights and quirky characters, and this movie has plenty of both but with a certain restraint not usually seen from Burton. I enjoyed the movie and the storyline, but it almost felt like a cross between The Wizard of Oz and The Brothers Grimm - a morality tale told with extreme quirkiness and a desire for a slightly different/better ending. The standout actor for me was Crispin Glover, not Johnny Depp. Depp played a character we have seen at least 3 or 4 times before, and didn't really bring anything new to the role...well, the eyes were pretty nifty!
All in all, a good take on a classic story but I missed the Burton quirky twist to this classic story.
