There were times I thought Eastwood was playing a caricature of his past roles. The Dirty Harry grimace was way too heavy handed which was not helped with the zoomed in facial shots. His grumpy old man growl got old real fast. The laughter his racist comments received bothered me. Was the audience sympathetic? Were these comments others felt but were afraid to say out loud? The elder warming to mentor the youngster was a solid story but too many characters were one-dimensional. The selfish sons, the evil gang bangers, and the feminized priest were too easily contrived for Walt to be the hero. Too predictable,
The cast was great. Of course the story pushes the believability factor and the story-line in predicable. But good acting and special effect makes the movie. Tony Stark's basement factory is like Batman's on steroids.
