This film portrays the social norms of the 60's. Sadly, those norms included discrimination, societal class distinctions and prejudice. Having lived through that time, those norms were strong in the South but certainly were prevalent in other parts of the country and world. The acting in this film was superb as was the portrayal of the strife in the lives of African Americans in their subserviant roles in society.
Nothing like feeling my age after watching this story of young street dancing competitors! Wow! I can't imagine all of the work that went into training for this movie. I am really amazed by the talent of the dancers.
This Twilight sequel was definitely better than the first movie in its series. The action and acting were very good, especially considering that Robert Pattinson is new to acting. The special effects were better than expected. The ending leaves you hanging but that is what a lead-in movie does...lead you in to wanting to see the next in the series. All-in-all it was thrilling to watch!
I loved the come-backs that Heigl and Butler both had for each other's slams. Very well crafted romance with humor to keep your eyes and ears peeled to the movie.
This movie keeps you trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together to figure out why Will Smith has made the arrangements he has. The acting is superb and as the plot thickens, you are better able to grasp Will's intentions. Although sad, you can't help but admire Will's selfless determination to better the lives of others to erase his ugly past. The movie is well-plotted and it keeps you thinking all along.
I wasn't too sure I'd like the film based on its synopsis. After viewing it, I must say that despite its dorky plot, it was funny but entertaining. I have recommended it to friends. I was glad that it didn't contain the usual Eddie Murphy foul language. It served to humor me which made my trip to the theatre worthwhile.
