3-D for 3-D's Sake - Style Over Substance

I had such high hopes for this movie, but left the theater sorely disappointed. The actress who plays Alice is terribly bland and it is difficult to care what happens to her, and the "real world" framing story is dull and ineffectual. The 3-D is cool, but there are times when things move so quickly that everything becomes one big blur.
Johnny Depp breaks out in some kind of weird breakdance at the end, a complete anachronism that made some of the audience laugh and some of it groan. I groaned.
AVATAR was a good movie that was also in 3-D. ALICE IN WONDERLAND is something that is in 3-D that also happens to be a movie. Those are two very different approaches to filmmaking and storytelling.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
