this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. i would recommend it to anyone, from children to geriatrics. i don't want to give anything away but even if you are a fan of the original or of the novel Burton did not ruin it in anyway but instead enhanced what was already amazing. even if you're skeptical give it a chance and i promise you won't be disapointed!!
