This is the best Tim Burton movie I've seen. The overall feel is dark, which adds an element of 'reality' to the story. It is not cartoonish, only 'whimsical.' Acting is excellent. Direction is super. The story is compelling and runs tight. So much so that, in the end, I wanted to see more of this fanciful Wonderland Tim Burton recreated for us in his visionary rendition of the classic.
As to 3D projection. I'm one of those who think 24 frames per second and stereoscopic 3D are not a good mix. I would have probably enjoyed this film a lot more in Digital 2D. I guess that means I'll be seeing it again.
