Alice in Forgettableland

The best of Alice is barely memorable. The performances are all forgettable.
Depp has his usual quirkiness as the Mad Hatter, but he has none of Carol's non-sense logic in the character. Depp's lisps are more off-putting than funny. His metamorphosis between one madness and the next are unbelievable.
The CGI landscapes in Alice are wonderful, with Burton's usual gothic tones. But imagery can’t save the script.
The 3D is poorly done and fails to excite.
Burton simply didn't care much about Alice. The editing is horrid, and inexplicable plot holes are all over the place. Carol's work had some of those same holes, but in the realm of adaptation they should have been filled.
