Surprisingly substantive - less a fluffy, fantastical farce & more a dark fantasy with great humor. Screenwriter did an excellent adaptation for the big screen & adult audiences (though I do miss the Walrus & the Carpenter). Digital 3D is awesome, & I love the fact that the CG in this movie was understated and natural-looking (with the exception of Stayne - his stilted walk jarred me), rather than overwhelming. Top-notch acting, & casting that was almost spot-on. If you're just looking for an updated version of the 1951 Disney animated film, this won't be for you. If, however, you're open to a deeper, darker, more mature interpretation of the material presented in a wonderful format, don't miss this!
