I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Burton's eye-poppingly updated Alice in Wonderland. It will rest alongside the "originals" quite nicely. The Wonderland she visits as an adult is much more vivid, and the characters much more deeply drawn, than the original portrayals -- rather than being self-referential satirical stand-in's for historical figures we know not of, Buton's Alice characters are wholly their own, and hint at deeper pasts and a more evolved world mileu than the 2-hour movie can possibly reveal. I was less than happy with the resolution for Depp's character and the awakened Alice -- but I would like to see Alice return to Wonderland, again, knowing it is not a dream.
