Visually stunning, but otherwise a total bore.

Like most of Tim Burton's movies, this movie is visually stunning. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie lacks the depth of his previous films. Beyond all of the outlandish make up and costumes, lies characters who lack any sort of depth or background stories. Depp, Hathaway, and Carter are left with nothing to work with, so they must compensate by overacting at every turn. Johnny Depp's Madhatter dance toward the end of the movie, was one of Hollywood's most cringe-worthy moments. Burton and Depp would do well to part company for a while, because they seemed to have become bored with one another. It's come to a point, where I can't tell one of Depp's weirdo Burton characters from the next.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
