Expelled Movie Review

I think Ben did a good job at showing how the academic community has become completely closed to even considering a point of view that conflicts with the "commonly accepted" view. The ironic thing is that, as was pointed out in the movie, that's exactly what Darwin's own theory was when it was first introduced; and, in fact, that's what science is supposed to be about anyway; the determination to go wherever the evidence leads, even if it conflicts with commonly held views. I've often heard statements like "the science is already settled", and that might even make sense, if no other discoveries had been made. However, we are continually learning more, especially in the world of micro-biology and DNA, and, in light of what we are learning, science HAS to be willing to adjust its theories to match the new evidence being found, EVEN if that leads to "design".
The one thing I wish the movie had done, that it did not do, was to look a little more at the evidence that does support design. I have seen some of that evidence, and it is compelling. While they did "touch" on it a couple of times, they really did not go into it much at all. Maybe it's because they were trying to reach a broad audience, and most people really aren't "into the details" and would have become too bored. But, as one previous reviewer said, this movie didn't really show much evidence to support ID (which, unfortunately is true). Contrary to that reviewer, who obviously believes that was because there "isn't" any evidence, I, on the other hand, have seen such evidence, and it does exist. What this movie apparently decided to focus on, instead, was to show the close-mindedness of the current darwinists and the fact that they refuse to even consider any other posibilities.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
