This picture was outstanding in all aspects of film making. It was approximately the same running time as Shutter Island but seemed like half the time. Martin Scorsese should take a lesson from Niels Arden Oplev!
Columbia Pictures made some great B pictures in the 40's. If Scorsese had followed the formula better, Shutter Island would have been in B&W and had a running time of 70 minutes. Then he may have had a minor classic on his hands.
I guess with today's prices they have to add the extra hour to make people feel they are getting their money's worth. In this case longer was not better; it was just a waste of time.
