This is a good example of overzealous Hollywood Hype. This title had so much going for it. Audiences who remember the first effort wanted to see how CGI would improve it. Newbies wanted something other than Hobbits, Terminators, and Muggles. And in 3D!!! no less. Clash was'nt bad per se but definitely could have been a lot better. I personnally wish these new filmakers would get it out of their head that hand held, jerky camera movement enhances action scenes. THEY DO NOT. Just sit down and watch a good Errol Flynn swashbuckler and you'll see what I mean. Also, unless the production is carefully planned as a 3D event, don't shoot it in 2D then convert it at the last minute. There is a science to proper 3D and this film suffered greatly for not respecting that. I hope to see this again in 2D and expect to like it more. As in the orignal, the much anticipated Medusa scene was by far worth the price of admmission. I could go on and on but you'll have to judge for yourself. Worth a try.
This is a must see for any fan of the original Universal movie. References and tips of the hat to the original were plentiful and appreciated. Atmosphere and torch carrying towns people and howling at the moon were all there. Warning! Although the use of state of the art special effects techniques were very effective there was a considerable amount of blood and guts to make even the most die hard gore hound squeamish. Pacing was direct and fluent and had this viewer wanting more. Don't wait for the dvd. See it on the big sceen and have fun!
