Take "escape to witch mountain" and "X-Men" and add a dash of "Twilight." Then Let Michael Bay add Explosions! Thats the recipe for this film.
Number 4 is an alien who has grown up on earth running and hiding from the alien race who destroyed his home planet. His greatest wish is to just be a normal teenager; to be able to go to school and have a normal life. He is forced to leave one town after an incident where he was exposed as an alien.
Arriving in a new town, his powers begin to manifest. Between falling for the quarterback's ex and befriending the school nerd, he does anything but blend in and hide. His guardian realizes the killer aliens are on their way and decides they need to run again.
When the alien killers arrive, he stops running and decides to fight back and protect the girl he loves. Number 6 arrives just as the fight turns deadly.
If he loses this fight, Earth may be the next planet destroyed. If he wins? See the movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Conclusion: Uh. . . Part 1?

Great adaptation of the book. Good pacing throughout. (The one area that people say is slow has months taking place in such a fashion it only seems like a few days in the story, so it's really not that slow.)
The only REAL problem with this movie is that when it ends (it is part 1 after all), you'll be dying for the next movie to be out NOW!
Overall a great movie!
