While this feature length version of the cult hit series did not deal with as much of the supernatural as the television show, nor the green men of the first film, X-Files I want to believe offers a more in depth human side of our heroes, former agent (now playing doctor full time) Dana Scully, and former agent Fox Mulder (now hanging around a bungalo for two not doing much of anything but hiding from the FBI. Apparenntly whatever he did since the series ended really angered some fo the top brass. Mulder is called in by Scully to help find a missinig agent, thought to have disappeared under "odd" circumstances. The relationship between Mulder and Scully is as muddled in the filml as it was in the series. We see them sleeping in the same bed, they do share one (or maybe two) kiss but in a scene where they discuss their "feelings" Scully points out to Mulder, "Your passion is what made me fall in love with you" and Fox's answer: "that's why we can't be together". There is one very brief appearance by Agent Skinner, the two agent's head honcho in the series but other than that there are no other characters we came to know and love (or hate) to be found. For me the best thing about the movie is the chemistry between Anderson and Duchovny, and even that was lacking the spark it once had during the lonog running series. Not much in line of real action, and again for the Sci-Fi fans, prepare to be disappointed as all plot really comes down to is a bunch of crazed Russians stealing people in the purpose of harvesting body parts. The movie drags, the agents aren't together nearly enough and I have a question: WHO'S IDEA WAS IT TO PUT AMANDA PETE OF ALL PEOPLE IN THE FILM AS AN FBI AGENT??? This woman is portraying a sharp and smart agent. Are you kidding me with this? My date gave it four stars and I 2 1/2 so We settled on ***. But, if you want a good movie with good action, and lots of chills and thrills - go see Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and absolutely, see The Dark Knight again if you already haven't. I know I shall.
