It's hard not to like Anthony Hopkins, the classic suave, psychopathic, serial killer with a charming smile and wink of the eye. Lawrence war similar to Tristan in Legends of the Fall, the "prodigal son" returning home. The romantic aspects of the plot wore thin. The research re lycanthropy created a semblance of scientific legitimacy. Surprising unlimited supply of courageous villagers given the visible, brutal mass slayings taking place. The visual effects were terrific. The plot was a bit thin. The characters were strong. The timing was ripe for another werewolf movie
