Okay for kids but adults should avoid

I took a group of 7 kids to see this. Most were familiar with the book series. The kids generally enjoyed the movie but were dismayed that the principal characters had been turned into older teenagers. They also did not like that romance had been inserted. Some characters whom they liked were missing from the movie. Overall, though, they enjoyed the movie. The other adult in our group and I both thought it was rather hilariously bad with the exception of Uma Thurman as Medusa, Steve Coogan as Hades, and Catherine Keener as Percy's mother. The actor who played Percy Jackson, btw, seemed to have studied acting with Zac Efron -- 'nuff said!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
