I've only seen the movie in this format, but it was incredible. You soon forget that Pandora and the Navi are not real. The technology used to create the characters makes you believe that there are 10 ft tall blue actors. To me, that was the most amazing part of the movie. All of the reviews and trailers I've seen didn't do justice to the story line either. I felt it was an engrossing, immersing experience and the story, while nothing new, was engaging. I really felt swept up in the movie and story and that was really only made possible because the effects were realistic. Finally, a movie that used effects to enhance the movie and storytelling rather than overwhelm it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
