Was I watching the same movie?

I went in with high expectations based on all the glowing reviews, but I can't believe I was watching the same movie. Outside of some stunning CG and special effects, I thought this movie was really weak. Classic Hollywood trying to throw everything in, but failing to really develop the plot or characters. I suppose this was great for the real trekkies, but I hated many of the main characters -- including Spock, both young and old. I thought Kirk, Sulu and Scotty were all good, but the rest were terrible. The dialogue also was shallow and weak. Ohura (however you spell it) falling for Spock?
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Gotta Know What to Expect

I thought this was a great movie, but you have to like this type of humor. It is certainly not for everyone. Only those that appreciate equal opportunity offensive humor, lots of Kill Bill type of violence and sight gags, and the Ben Stiller and Jack Black style, will truly appreciate the movie. Robert Downey does a great job, as does Black.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
