Denzel is fascinating in everything he does. This movie was no exception. This was a movie with a strong religious message. It showed how religion can be used for good and bad. It also showed the power of faith. Yet, at the same time, it was packed with action. I really enjoyed it. I'd definitely see it again.
This movie was great! It was full of action, had great graphics, and was unpredictable. The introduction made David (Christensen) real. He was presented as a shy, every day teen with a crush on a nice girl named Milly (Bilson). Even in our early introduction to him, we see his determined nature as he retrieves a gift he gave Milly. He opts to leave a mediocre life for an unexplainable escape. And the way he lived his life was representative of what any other teen would have probably done in his position. He leads a materialistic and carefree life. But his world traveling has resulted in him being detached and naive. This is shown through his meeting with Roland (Jackson) who is relentless, frightening, and heartless in his role as a lead Palatin (hunters of the Jumpers). It's also shown through the unmatched alliance David has with the comical and shrewd Griffin (Bell) even in the face of death. David starts to come into his own and shows how brave and wise he truly is at the end of the movie. The unresolved questions about David's mother, his future, and the history of Jumpers and Palatins makes this movie one that you continue to talk about after it's over.
