I've read the book 4 times, watched the interviews, kept up on the gossip for the past year, so I had a lot of expectation. It surprised me in several ways, but the end result was awesome! Here are some facts: 1. The wedding scene is breathtaking and her dress is unbelievably tasteful. They added some bits to the reception that really personalized it. 2. The honeymoon images are not as graphic on the big screen as they must have been for the actors. You see more sex on TV any day. I was expecting more lovey-dovey at the honeymoon too, but it was enough, and the few guys to see the movie won't be grossed out. 3. The way they did the wolf "talk" was really effective and really cool. The visual graphics in this one are very different from the other 3 movies. 4. The birth scene is very quick and is not nearly as gruesome as expected either. 5. They took Part 1 a little further than I expected. Fabulous ending!!!!! 6. Stay through the first set of credits only (not for the long list-nothing after that.) It foreshadows a major theme in Part 2.
I was actually a little hesitant to see this one, only that I remembered that the first half of the Deathly Hallows book is a little slow. However, the 2 1/2 hours just flew by! It has way more detail than any other moive, and the plot development flows really well because they have the time to explain. Everyone is back, and some of your favorites are killed off. Movie was really well balanced, and is really stunning to watch (no pun intended!). Definitely worth the money to see it on the IMAX screen!
Okay, it was pretty good, but definitely not great. Good story line and great graphics, but literally all the funny parts are shown in the commercials on TV, so you have already seen all the jokes. Still funny, and really good for little kids. What made the movie really enjoyable was the reaction of the little kids in the theatre. They loved it! So take the little ones. My 15 year old son liked it (he REALLY wanted to see it, too) but wasn't thrilled. Won't buy the dvd, and we buy almost everything. We will buy a Minion doll however. The movie would have been truly mediocre without them.
I just got back from seeing Eclipse. It was really good, but maybe I shouldn't have reread the book last week, because there were many, many scenes in the book that Melissa Rosenberg just didn't get. They should have done them just like Stephanie wrote and they would have been great! The bed/proposal scene was too abbreviated; they left out about half the conversation in the tent, and the sex talk with Billy was just lacking compared to the hysterical writing in the book. And the biggest disappointment was that Bella just commented that Alice was planning the wedding. I was REALLY looking forward to the scene where Alice guilts Bella into not only being at the wedding, but planning a real wedding instead of a drive-thru chapel in Vegas. It would have been fabulous! And how can you get enough of Alice! So maybe if your memory is not as good, then you will think it is perfect. In fact, a few scenes were better than the book, because they were acted out, instead of Rosalie, Jasper, etc. just telling their side of it. The fight scenes were excellent, too. It could have used a few more minutes of that, especially Victoria's final scene. It was so short it was kind of anticlimatic. I don't think fans would have minded another 10-15 minutes to better transition, explain, elaborate, and add the missing dialog. We would have loved it. How many of us were disappointed when a Harry Potter movie wasn't 3 hours long?
I took my year old son to see this. Well, I wouldn't recommend that teens see it in mixed company, & young girl teens will definitely get embarrassed, but my gosh, this movie is HYSTERICAL!!! And my son loved it too. R rating: The "language" is a few curse words in the beginning, then normal conversation with a few words appropriately placed where I didn't even notice it. The only nudity is a 2 sec. shot of HIS bare butt. The "sexual content" however, is throughout the movie, as the two develop their relationship & he tries to live up to what he thinks her expectations are. If it would have been any funnier, it would have been painful to laugh that much! Go see it!
Without a doubt the BEST action film I have ever seen, and I have seen them all! Great story line, good character development, very funny, and constant action. And the special effects are so real you are right there with them! New Autobots add great comic relief. They don't waste any time catching you up if you haven't seen the first one, but you'll figure it out. You might miss a few jokes, though.
Surprisingly good movie! It had non-stop action, suspense, humor, and nothing in the least offensive. It may be a little intense, in fact, for very small children, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone above the age of 6. My 13 year old loved it, but the 35 year old guy sitting in front of him REALLY loved it, based on his laughter and applaud at the end of the movie. Disney did a great job of updating the classic, which I remember well.
I couldn't agree more with the previous review. Ford is getting a little old, but still unbelievably handsome, Karen was fabulous. I loved the references to the previous movies. I wasn't thrilled with the casting of Mutt, but he was okay. I doubt he can carry on the movie line, if that is what they are thinking. #1 IJ is still the best, but this was a really good wrap-up. The climax was a little out there, but right in keeping with all the Indy movies. No Oscar winner, but definitely an enjoyable 2 hours.
