I read the book about 2 months ago and have been waiting to see the movie ever since! True the plot of the movie doesnt follow every detail of the book...and the ending could have been better but over all I loved this movie. This is a real tear jerker and will hit you even harder if you have a loved one in the armed forces. Make sure you bring enough tissues!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
