This was a stunning production. The only disappointing aspect was that the between-act backstage activity was not shown this time. I saw an encore showing of "Carmen" earlier this year, and the backstage scene changes and interviews were fascinating. I wish I could have seen something similar for "Turandot." Other than that, the production was everything I hoped it would be--luscious singing, sets, costumes and camera work.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I loved everything about this production. The singing was uniformly outstanding. Set design and costumes were excellent. I loved the camera work; I felt like I was right onstage with the performers. It's the next best thing to being at the Met in person. I just wish more movie theaters in my area (Washington DC-Baltimore metro area) would show the HD broadcasts. They're so popular here, they sell out fast. I had to go to the encore showing, because the live broadcast was sold out.
