I had seen the previous movie with the same cast, it was like deja vu in a new location, except this time the entire family was hostage not just the daughter. Many of the same scenarios, same chases, etc. The only real difference, the daughter is growing up, so no b-day party this time a boyfriend
Having seen the trailer several times I know what to expect regarding the "crash" however it was done really well and even knowing the end result it was very exciting and well done. The rest of the movie was good but I found myself rooting AGAINST Denzel for reasons you will see (not going to spoil). The John Goodman character is funny the 1st time on screen, but not at all the other times. Don Cheadle plays like every single other Cheadle character ever has. Only Kelly Reilly's character is worth rooting for, I believe she carried the film. Enjoyable if you don't expect much
I have to say, it was one of the most confusing, disjointed movies I have ever seen. I had no idea it was almost 3 hours long (45 minutes longer than needed) so the severe pain I was in didn't help at all, but other than the make-up (which WILL win an academy award) I have to say "STAY AWAY" there were a few good scenes but in total, I was extremely disappointed.
I went not knowing what to expect, and left 100% entertained. It was so nice to watch a movie where the dialogue was understandable, the plot was interesting, and the actors were excellent. Olivia Wilde in a roll that is perfect for her (and her amazing eyes), Jeremy Irons was amazing, it was an academy award sleeper, you heard it here 1st
The movie MOONRISE KINGDOM is one I am sure most of you have never heard of, well consider that a travesty, this movie is AWESOME. Set in 1965 on an island 2 kids (each 12) decide they hate their lives and plan to run away together (on an island) they don't get far but what they encounter together on the way is just fun to watch. No sex, No violence, 1 swear word, it's just a joy, and my opinion is any kid 12 and over will enjoy it and understand it as well. ***** stars
The beginning and premise are OK, however once they get into the heart of the movie it goes downhill very quickly. There were 1-2 scenes that lived up to the hype of the trailers regarding scary, but that's all. The last 30 minutes is just bad and the ending, well lets say it seems to end because they ran out of film and had to stop, save your $$$
The movie was hysterical, as for my rating 3 items avg. is because they weren't relevant to the movie i.e. special effects, etc. The acting and chemistry between the male characters was easy and funny, the female characters were not only very easy on the eyes but their dialogue, acting and chemistry was excellent as well. It is absolutely a good date movie (will create tons of things to talk about afterward) as well as a fun movie for anyone else as well, definitely worth the time and $$$, a nice relief for a change, enjoy
I had truly been wanting to see this movie, finally went and was so disappointed, they do it in 2 parts, when part 1 was over I hoped it was a bad ending to the movie, no such luck, by the time part 2 was over (spoiler alert) I hoped when the world exploded that it was really happening just to be put out of my misery. The luckiest character (won't spoil) was the one who died with 15 minutes left
I have read all 3 books and usually won't see the movies as they can't emulate the books very well, however this one did, even knowing what to expect it was done in a way to still make it exciting and fast moving, knowing the plot does not take away from the movie at all. There are 2 scenes that are hard to watch, but knowing what and why they are included made it tolerable, go see, you will not be disappointed...not for kids even at 17 yrs old
OMG, this movie was hysterical, you must listen closely the first 5 minutes to be able to easily understand the strong Gaelic accent, but after that the movie is fast moving, funny, touching, thoughtful, some racial humor but done tastefully, and an intriguing ending, no gratuitous violence or nudity, just a good fun movie to watch and laugh
