Do go see this movie for the incredible effects. The 3D is not gimmicky, but truly impressive. A ten year old could have written the plot, there are no surpises and the bad guys are cartoonishly bad. Nevertheless, the world that is created, flora and fauna, is breathtaking and definitely worth the experience. Years from now when these effects are more the norm, people may wonder what all the fuss was about, but for now, it is amazing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great casting, good acting, excellent script and well done special effects combine for a terrific movie experience. The pacing was brisk, subtle references to the original series did not distract, and only mildly non-sensical scifi time travel stuff to make you scratch your head. You will enjoy this movie and feel like you got your money's worth.
