It's a hard movie to watch. You feel like you're watching CNN-- like you're in the helicopter following O.J. Simpson's car on the highway for 2 hours. Very intense. It gave me a headache. But, anyway, it's a very good B movie. I found the main character very tiring to watch for that long. He's a bit stupid and naive. The alien Christopher was very good, however.
I had to close my eyes through several scenes as they were just too gross for me. This guy sure does have chutzpah. The movie makes straights and non-straights alike feel very uncomfortable-- as his character is so extremely extreme. You have never seen a guy like this one. Cohen must be crazy. He loves making people feel uncomfortable.
Edge of your seat. Non-stop action. Keeps you guessing all the time. I had such low expectations, but was very surprised at the plot twists. Never a dull moment. Can't wait for the sequel. Liked the New Orleans setting-- very realistic-- no cheap shots, like Voodoo priestesses, or fake Cajuns.
One of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Each frame is a work of art. You just sit back, and it's like your grandparents telling you an enchanting, haunting story. Spans nearly 100 years. The music score is the perfect compliment. I bought the soundtrack. The best movie this year-- and I have seen al the front runners.
A thinking person's movie. WIth Bush's approval rating at 25%, I would imagine that 75% of the nation would appreciate the movie. I will be pondering this movie for a while. Bush is painted as a very likable guy, by the way-- just "out of his league". It's a real character study-- and Josh Brolin carries the movie by sheer force of character. Brilliant performance. It was indeed serious drama... Worth seeing? Definitely. I would give it an A- or a B+ You just can't get the movie out of your mind. It doesn't make you angry at all, just pensive-- pondering how all this happened-- much like when you walked out of Forrest Gump.
All the reviewers are correct. This is a difficult movie. It's the kind of movie that should be taught in school. You could spend a week or two of classes analyzing it. Good vs. evil. Can we really make a difference? etc. A heavy movie that asks lots of questions...
The movie just moved too slowly. Like the movie Castaway, you must sit through long periods where all you see is Will Smith-- sleeping, working out, driving around, eating, etc. Since he is the last man on earth (he thinks), there are few other characters-- well-- at least for long sequences of time. Buy two boxes of popcorn. It's a l-o-n-g movie to sit through....
