This is not your sleepy 1980's French period drama. Fasten your seatbelts, cuz this one takes you on a tense ride.
Not only is it a thriller, but the acting and the locations and the directing choices are superb.
I am still thinking about it (rare) and would highly recommend it - a thinking man or woman's thriller.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As always with the Met's HD productions, we had a fine time and continue to pinch ourselves at our good fortune to see and hear such wonderful entertainment for such little cost. Having said that, we were slightly distracted by the foot shuffling of the cowboys which interfered with the music. Also I was disappointed not to see Deborah Voigt astride a horse - which was advertised on the Met's website. Did anyone else notice the way Andrew Lloyd Weber ripped off some of the melody of the main theme in his "Phantom of the Opera"? I think reviewers come down on the Met's La Fanciulla too hard because they are getting used to the technical feats of wizardry in some of the other HD broadcasts. Beautiful music, by the way!!!
